MSYSA West Regional Commissioner
My name is Jackie Eskay, and I am the current West Regional Commissioner for MSYSA and have been serving in this position since 2016. During my time with MSYSA, I have had the opportunity to serve on several committees, including the ODP Committee in 2016, the Hiring Committee, the Bylaws Committee, and State Cup. In addition to my role with MSYSA, I am a Member of the United Soccer Coaches Association (formerly NSCAA) Foundation Committee, and the Academy I Director and staff coach for FC Frederick. I am running for re-election for the West Regional Commission position, and I am asking for your vote.
I’ve been involved with soccer for most of my life as a player, soccer mom, coach, volunteer, and administrator. I’ve always believed that the game belongs to the players, and I’ve tried to make sure every player regardless of level or age has the opportunity to enjoy the game to their fullest potential; whatever that may be.
I hold a USSF National “D” license, USSF National Youth license, and the Grassroots 4 v4 license. I’ve earned a variety of United Soccer Coaches Association (formerly known as the National Soccer Coaches of Association of America “NSCAA”) diplomas, including – Level 1 Diploma (2014), Level 2 Diploma (2014); GK Level 1 (2014); Player Development Curriculum Diploma (2014); NSCAA Special Topics Diploma- The Mental Game (2015); NFHS High School Professional Development Certificate; NSCAA Special Topic Diploma-Small sided games, (2016); and NSCAA Special Topics Diploma-Attacking Principles of Play (2016), 4v4 Diploma (2016).
Professionally, I’ve practiced law since 1992, serving as an assistant attorney general in criminal appeals for the state of Arizona, trial attorney with the department of justice capital case unit, and now a real estate attorney in the title insurance industry as the owner of Capitol Settlements, LLC.
I’ve been coaching youth soccer for over 20 years with a special emphasis on U6-U11 and serving in a director/head age group role for the younger age groups in FC Frederick over the past 15 years. I am married and the mother of five soccer players, two girls and three boys. Collectively, our family has participated in the Maryland ODP program and Region I programs for almost 22 seasons! I’ve had the wonderful opportunity and experience to coach all five children and to watch my 3 older children continue their soccer careers in college (St. Mary’s College of MD & William & Mary next fall. My husband is the Executive Director/Director of Coaching at FC Frederick, and soccer has been our way of life for as long as I can remember.
Of all my experience and background with the game, one of the most rewarding has been my involvement with FC Frederick’s Golden Mile Soccer Program, a free soccer program for at-risk youth at two Title 1 schools in Frederick, Maryland. The program just finished its 7th year serving over 350 kids each season, coaching these children is one of the most meaningful volunteer activities I have done. There is no question that Golden Mile is often the best part of these kids’ day, and the one constant they can rely on each and every week of the season. Our entire family participates in the program and I have watched how helping this community has taught my own the unique and special gifts of the game of soccer.
