The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. General Information

The Recreation program is intended to promote recreational soccer and support clubs, coaches and players in various club programs throughout the state. MSYSA helps to provide coach education, resources, organization and guidance to recreational programs. The Recreational program also promotes the philosophy that fun and development are both important and necessary parts that require significant effort and robust planning.

What is Recreational Soccer?

As defined by US Youth Soccer, recreational soccer is primarily devoted to the enjoyment and development of soccer players without travel or emphasis on high level competition. The purpose of recreational soccer is to provide an opportunity for the participants to have fun, learn the game, love the game, and develop life skills.

Recreational teams are often formed at random - without regard to ability. This helps players involved enjoy the game! Programs are created for fun, exercise, and development in an environment that de-emphasizes competition. Successful programs include all three elements.

The term "grassroots" is sometimes used in conjunction with recreational programs. Recreational soccer falls under the grassroots umbrella.
