The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.

Programs and Philosophy

The Recreational Program promotes player, coach, and club development at young ages through its affiliate clubs. MSYSA has a number of core philosophies which we believe are central to success regardless of the size or level of sophistication of any club.

Coaching Education is critical and resources must be accessible.

Coaching education at the recreational level can consist of formal courses, mentorship, e-learning, and field sessions. While each club has different capabilities, it should be as near a requirement as possible.

Coaching Education must be coupled with a player development framework.

The program structure, teaching methods, and available tools rely on one another for success.

A curriculum must be part of the process.

in learning how to plan practices and to create effective practice plans by understanding how things work.

Free play is actively encouraged.

While deliberate practice and play have their place, the value of free play cannot be overlooked. It is especially important for the recreational level where developing a love of the game is key.
