New Partnership Creates Opportunities for Children!
Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) partners with Glenwood Academy to provide internship opportunities for students
GLENWOOD, MD (September 15, 2021): The Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) announced today a brand-new partnership with Glenwood Academy. This partnership is designed to provide additional opportunities to students in the form of internships within the sport management industry.
As the highest administrative authority for the amateur youth sport of soccer within Maryland and DC, MSYSA administers multiple programs and events each year in addition to serving a membership of more than 150 affiliate clubs and leagues registering more than 63,000 players in addition to thousands of coaches, team managers, and administrators. This makes MSYSA the ideal place for students to learn about the sport management industry.
Founded in 2009, Glenwood Academy embraces and empowers all students, grades 1-12 who have language-based learning differences, with opportunities to evolve and discover their individual potential for greatness through an engaging, multisensory, developmental, language-intensive curriculum.
MSYSA Executive Director Greg Smith said, “Working collaboratively with Glenwood Academy to create opportunities for students to learn about the sport management industry perfectly aligns with our mission of growing the game and transforming lives.” Smith went on to say, “I am very excited for the positive outcomes that are guaranteed to be a direct result of this engagement!”
Glenwood Academy students will be invited to work alongside the various MSYSA employees at various times and days throughout the school year. Based on interest, the internship opportunities may include the creation of a program or event where each step of the process from concept to market will create hands-on learning experiences for the students.
“We are so excited to be partnering with MSYSA,” said Rebecca Rider, Head of School for Glenwood Academy. “The opportunities for our students to engage with the professionals at MSYSA and to learn about the inner workings of a professional sport organization are truly priceless.”
